Plant Tags
What plant tags do
Every plant you sell can leave with a printed tag. Each tag has a QR code that opens a free care page for that plant, so buyers know how to keep it alive and where it came from. Buyers can also track the plant in their own garden.gg account in one tap.
Tags print from any lot on the Bloom or Harvest plan. You need a nursery profile first, because the tag shows your nursery’s name.
Print tags
- Open a lot from the Lots tab.
- Press Print tags. The dialog explains: “Each tag has a QR code buyers can scan for care tips — and to track the plant in Garden.gg.”
- Choose a Layout:
- Avery 5160 sheet: “US Letter, 30 tags per page (2⅝ × 1 in)”. Works on any home printer.
- 2 × 1 in labels: “One tag per label, for thermal label printers”.
- 2¼ × 1¼ in labels: “One tag per label, for thermal label printers”.
- Set How many? (1 to 300).
- Tick or untick Include price (the box shows the lot’s price, for example “Include price ($5.00)”).
- Press Make PDF. When it’s ready (“Your 12 tags are ready.”) choose Open to print or Download PDF. Change options goes back to the form.
Each tag carries:
- The plant name in large text, plus the botanical name when the lot is linked to a catalog plant
- The container size
- The price, if you ticked Include price
- Your nursery name
- The QR code and “Scan for care tips”
Where the QR code goes
After your first print, the lot’s Plant tags card shows “Tags scan to this care page:” with the link, which looks like garden.gg/p/abc234defg. Press Copy to share it. Every tag printed for the same lot uses the same code, so you can print more at any time and old and new tags keep working together.
The code is a random short code, never the lot’s internal ID.
What buyers see
Scanning a tag opens the plant’s Plant care page. Buyers don’t need an account to see it. It shows:
- The plant name, and the botanical name when known
- Care from the plant catalog where available: Sun, Water, Zones, Spacing and Days to harvest
- Your nursery’s name, linking to your storefront while it’s published
Under “Keep it thriving” (“Get watering reminders and log its growth — free.”) buyers can press Track this plant in Garden.gg. Signed-in buyers get the plant added to their plants straight away. Everyone else signs in or signs up first, then the plant is added. Each plant they adopt remembers which nursery it came from. The page also links to the garden.gg iOS and Android apps.
The care page never shows your stock counts, costs, customers or anything else private.
Tags keep working after the sale
A tag stays useful for the life of the plant. The care page keeps working after the lot sells out or is archived, and even if your plan lapses or your storefront is unpublished.
Reprint with a new code
If a batch of tags was lost or printed wrong, open the lot’s Plant tags card and press Reprint with new code. The dialog asks “Reprint with a new code?”: “Old tags will stop working. Use this when a batch of tags was lost or printed wrong.” Press New code to confirm, or Keep current tags to back out.
After that, old tags open “Tag not found” (“This plant tag isn’t active anymore. Ask the nursery for a fresh one…”). Print a fresh set with Print tags and they’ll use the new code.
